Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Friday that a meeting of the Makkah Defence Alliance’s Strategic Political Defence Committee (SPDC) will take place in Riyadh next week to discuss escalating Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. This committee, established under the trilateral "Makkah Accord," includes representatives from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. Dar also mentioned that Iran has suggested engaging Yemen's Houthis politically as a way to address recent attacks, an idea that will be discussed at the upcoming meeting. The SPDC comprises foreign ministers, defence ministers, and chiefs of army staff from each country involved in the alliance. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defence Minister Yasar Guler, and Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu will join their counterparts from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia at the meeting scheduled for October 5 in Riyadh.
