On September 3, Tasnim, an Iranian news agency, reported that six more military personnel were killed by US strikes in southern Iran, raising the number of reported deaths to at least 13 since August 30. The latest attacks followed a month-long lull and included fatalities among both regular military forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In response to these U.S. strikes, Iran retaliated by attacking U.S. bases in several countries including Kuwait, Jordan, and the UAE.
The renewed hostilities stoked fears of prolonged disruption in oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz, causing a significant spike in global oil prices; Brent crude rose 3.4% to $91.09 per barrel and American crude increased similarly to $86.22.
