As of October 16, Hurricane Trudy intensified into a major Category 3 storm off Mexico's Pacific coast, posing significant threats to southwestern and west-central parts of Mexico. Located approximately 250 miles southwest of Acapulco, the hurricane had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph and was moving northwest at 6 mph. The U.S. National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane warning for the Mexican coastline stretching from Cabo Corrientes to Punta San Telmo, with tropical storm warnings also in effect northwards to Manzanillo. Forecasters warned that Trudy is expected to bring heavy rainfall of 4 to 8 inches across states like Colima and Jalisco, increasing the risk of life-threatening flooding and landslides in an area already hit by recent severe weather events.
