As of October 16, 2026, Hurricane Trudy has strengthened to a Category 3 storm off Mexico's Pacific coast, with maximum sustained winds reaching 195 kph (120 mph) and moving northwest at 9 kph (6 mph). Initially a Category 1 hurricane on October 15, Trudy was located about 480 km southwest of Acapulco and is forecast to approach the coast of southwestern and west-central Mexico this weekend. The storm is expected to bring rainfall of 4 to 8 inches through the weekend across Colima and Jalisco states, increasing the risk of life-threatening flooding and landslides in a region already affected by recent storms that caused several deaths and severe flooding.
