As of October 15, Hurricane Trudy moved parallel to Mexico's western coast as a Category 1 storm, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph (75 mph). The hurricane is forecasted to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane by the next day. Located approximately 480 km south-southwest of Acapulco, Trudy threatens further rain and strong winds in an area already affected by recent storms that caused several deaths and severe flooding. Mexican authorities and the National Hurricane Center warn of potential life-threatening flooding and landslides in the states of Colima and Jalisco due to heavy rains. Additionally, Tropical Storm Simon is stationary off Mexico's northwest coast after dropping heavy rain as a hurricane earlier.
