On October 26, 2026, Ukraine launched a drone attack on Voronezh region in Russia, causing significant damage and fires. Videos circulating on Russian social media showed flames engulfing apartment blocks and industrial facilities like the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber works and VASO aircraft factory. Governor Alexander Gusev stated that air defenses intercepted 113 drones over the region, with more than 70 of them targeted directly above the city. Russia's defense ministry reported a total of 290 downed drones across the country. The attack injured several people, including five passengers on an Anapa–Moscow train who were struck by debris near Somovo station; two injuries were serious. Rail traffic in the area was temporarily halted. Governor Gusev confirmed three fatalities but did not provide further details about their cause of death.
