As of October 25, 2026, southern Queensland continues to experience heavy rain and possible storms due to a blocking high-pressure system in the Tasman Sea. The Bureau of Meteorology reported that parts of eastern and south-eastern Australia received significant rainfall over the weekend, with Queensland seeing the highest totals. In the inland Wide Bay-Burnett region north of Brisbane and the Central Ranges, between 200-300 millimeters of rain fell by Sunday evening. Senior meteorologist Sarah Scully noted that many parts of Queensland have seen two to four times their average October rainfall in the past week. A severe thunderstorm dropped over 100 millimeters of rain in 12 hours over the Darling Downs, leading to a severe storm warning for south-east Queensland which was later cancelled as storms weakened and moved out across the water.
