The body of Douglas Craigie, 49, was recovered from the sea near Port Ness on October 14 after his fishing vessel, the FV Kilda, failed to return to port. Despite extensive searches, Norman Murray (40) and Murdo Morrison (23), who were also aboard the boat, remain missing along with the vessel itself. Searches for them had been paused due to severe weather conditions but resumed on October 21. Items belonging to the FV Kilda have since been recovered from an area near Port Ness, though both Murray and Morrison are still unaccounted for. A Marine Accident Investigation Branch exclusion zone has been in place around the search area, which will be lifted later this week to facilitate further investigation. Over £6,000 has been raised via a GoFundMe appeal to support the families affected by this tragedy. The Western Isles Fishermen’s Association is coordinating efforts to provide ongoing support for these families. Searches and inquiries continue under the direction of Police Scotland's Marine and Dive Unit and other partners. The community is being advised not to conduct their own searches due to safety concerns. Anyone with information about the missing crew members or vessel is encouraged to contact the authorities.
