JUI-F, a major political party in Pakistan, is urging its rivals to stop what it calls an "anti-Fazl campaign" against Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the party's chief. On Monday, Hafiz Naseer Ahmed Ahrar, JUI-F's Punjab General Secretary, criticized political opponents for maligning Rehman and asked them to respond with arguments rather than allegations. Ahrar accused rivals of launching a smear campaign against Rehman over his comments on inflation, lawlessness, terrorism, and economic decline in Pakistan. He challenged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to explain her family's contributions to the country compared to those made by JUI-F workers.
The statements come amid growing tensions between JUI-F and other political parties, particularly over Rehman’s criticism of current socio-economic conditions and governance issues. Ahrar asserted that Rehman has a right to raise these questions and accused critics of failing to address the challenges Pakistan faces. He emphasized that JUI-F workers are dedicated to transforming Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state under Rehman's leadership, implying that they continue the legacy of martyrs who sacrificed for the nation.
