On Monday, Li Qiang, a Chinese official, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, in Beijing to discuss deepening cooperation between their countries. The meeting came as China and Qatar sought to navigate the increasingly volatile Middle East region and ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is critical for both countries' energy imports and exports. China receives nearly one-third of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar's LNG exports. Li promised that China would work with Qatar to strengthen their relationship in areas such as energy, investment, artificial intelligence, and people-to-people exchanges. The meeting was part of a two-day official visit by the Qatari prime minister to China aimed at bolstering bilateral ties.
