Rescue teams in Gaza City have recovered the remains of 55 Palestinians from beneath the rubble of a residential building destroyed by an Israeli air strike nearly three years ago. The recovery operation was carried out manually due to a shortage of heavy machinery, and it is estimated that between 10,000 and 14,000 people remain missing under rubble across Gaza. A joint funeral procession for the recovered remains is expected to take place next weekend. The operation comes amid controversy over Israeli proposals to force Palestinians to leave Gaza, which US ambassador Mike Huckabee has denied as "categorically untrue".
