On Tuesday, an Israeli operation to detain a Hamas official in Gaza City's Katiba area led to chaos at a nearby kindergarten, forcing nearly 200 children between 4 and 5 years old to evacuate due to gunfire and airstrikes. The head of the kindergarten department, Doaa Qadeeh, was seen on video pleading for the safety of her students as she tried to calm them down amidst the explosions and crying. Despite being in one of the supposedly safer areas of Gaza, across from the American Hospital, the school's location did not protect it from the violence. Qadeeh was still visibly shaken hours later, describing her body as "trembling" uncontrollably. The Red Cross helped evacuate the children to safety.
