A Russian barrage of missiles and drones targeting Ukraine's capital and the surrounding region injured at least 16 people overnight and into Thursday morning, local authorities said.

Russia's Defence Ministry said the military hit metallurgical and electronics plants, factories of the military-industrial complex, energy and transport facilities in the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.

The ministry also reported that three bulk carriers and a ferry involved in carrying supplies for the Ukrainian military were hit in the port of Chornomorsk.

In the Kyiv region, civilian areas and infrastructure were targeted across the Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv and Bucha districts, according to Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional Administration.

A total of 33 sites were damaged, with the heaviest damage reported in Brovary district, where 14 sites were hit, and Fastiv district, where 10 were damaged, Tkachenko said in a statement on Telegram.
