John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, announced plans during his policy address on Wednesday and the city’s first five-year plan to support the local media industry. This includes strengthening the global reach of mainstream media and reviewing the television practice code to adapt to modern trends and digital competition. Specifically, in the section titled "Develop an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange," Lee stated: “We will strengthen the global reach of the mainstream media.” Additionally, he vowed to assist local media in expanding their networks beyond Hong Kong, aiming to tell the city’s positive stories internationally.
