New details have emerged about the impaired driving incident of a highly endangered House Republican lawmaker.

Mike Lawler, a congressman who represents a seat that voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, was 'arrested for DWI' in 2012, long before he ever ran for office.

The incident was not exposed in any of his previous runs and not publicly confirmed until Lawler came clean about it in an interview with local New York news outlet News12 in July of this year.

A police report from the incident, obtained by the New York Post this week, notes that Lawler was 'speeding 74 in 55 mph zone, [was] following too closely, crossed hazard markings several times, [made an] unsafe lane change and lane change several without signals.'

This past January, Lawler championed the issue again, cosponsoring the Drunk Driving Prevention and Enforcement Act alongside Democrats Debbie Dingell and Laura Gillen.
