The death of Hayden Panettiere, a 36-year-old actress known for her roles in "Heroes" and "Nashville," has been officially ruled accidental by the Greenville Police Department on October 28, 2026. The conclusion was based on the findings of an investigation conducted by the Medical Examiner's office which determined that Panettiere died from an overdose of multiple drugs including fentanyl, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine on August 16 in Greenville, South Carolina. There were no signs of trauma or foul play involved. Her boyfriend Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach Hickerson were present at the scene when emergency responders arrived. The Drug Enforcement Administration had also been investigating but their status remains unclear.
