US authorities have been investigating Megaspeed over suspicions that it helped Chinese firms circumvent US export restrictions and smuggle advanced Nvidia chips into China, the Times reported.
A spokesperson for Nvidia told the AFP news agency on Friday that "Jensen's interactions with Ms Huang are not unusual or unexpected," adding that the company that employed Alice Huang - Megaspeed - was no different to any other regional customer.
US intelligence agencies had been monitoring Alice Huang and concluded that she was acting on behalf of the Chinese government, according to unnamed sources cited by The New York Times.
The company insisted that its regional cloud customers receive “ordinary business information — not sensitive NVIDIA trade secrets” and “zero information relevant to national security.”
