COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio governor candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s controversial attack ad featuring the estranged mother of his Democratic opponent, Dr. Amy Acton, is off the air after the Republican spent about a quarter of what his campaign initially said it would invest to run it.

A video that appears to be a campaign ad circulated on social media late Monday showing Acton's mother, Donna Arthur, saying that she loves her daughter, but adds, "Amy has a serious problem" and has lied about her past.
In an interview with the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue in 2020, when Acton was leading Ohio’s response to the Covid pandemic, Acton’s mother said that she was aware that, before she married him, Cledith Arthur had previously been accused of raping his own daughter.
Asked by a reporter in Vandalia, Ohio if his campaign had stopped running the ad, Ramaswamy said: “It ran to completion and we put up four other ads.”
Trump also criticized the current Ohio governor, Republican Mike DeWine, for calling the ad "deeply troubling."
