The attack continued after the military's arrival, with Israeli soldiers firing tear gas in the direction of the Palestinians who had dodged the jeeps.
The West Bank has been under Israeli military rule since the 1967 Mideast war and today is home to around 3 million Palestinians and more than 500,000 Israeli settlers.
Videos from the scene showed some of the settlers using slingshots to launch stones toward the Palestinians.
The Israeli military said in a written statement on social media that troops and Israel Border Police were dispatched to an area near Abu Falah "following a report of a violent confrontation."
