Hub Power Company (Hubco) announced during a corporate briefing on October 20, 2026, that BYD vehicle production will initially rely entirely on imported raw materials and components. The long-term objective is to localise up to 80% of the vehicle's content, improving cost competitiveness and reducing reliance on imports. Topline Securities stated that the BYD plant in Karachi is expected to start operations by mid-December 2026, with an initial sales run rate of approximately 1,000-1,500 vehicles per month as production ramps up. The company plans a phased approach for introducing additional models, focusing on segments that can generate meaningful sales volumes. Lucky Cement also noted competition in the EV segment remains intense, especially from Chinese completely built-up (CBU) vehicles. BYD aims to begin local production of EV models by the first quarter of calendar year 2027, with volumes and model offerings expected to grow gradually in subsequent quarters.
