On a Wednesday evening at Riyadh Boulevard in Saudi Arabia, two blue and yellow humanoid robots sponsored by Hero Esports participated in an event organized by Chinese billionaire Dino Ying. This marked the first such competition outside of China, aiming to establish a global league akin to Monster Trucks but featuring futuristic technology. The robots engaged in physical combat with punches comparable to those of Mike Tyson, attracting Saudi royals, investors, tech enthusiasts, and influencers. Although one robot managed an impressive flying kick, many instances involved the bots falling or breaking parts during their interactions. Despite these challenges, the event was seen as a spectacle that could help justify Saudi Arabia's $250 million investment in Hero Esports, highlighting the kingdom’s ability to create major entertainment events.
