Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urges the United States to accept Tehran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. This offer was presented in mid-September following a collapsed interim ceasefire and remains on the table despite ongoing negotiations that have stalled due to Washington's failure to address all seven Iranian conditions. These demands include lifting the US blockade on Iran’s ports, ending sanctions on its oil exports, and ceasing hostilities across regional fronts. If accepted, the strait, which before the war carried about a fifth of global trade in oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG), could reopen within six days, with further talks resuming shortly thereafter according to Araqchi's statement made while attending an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Baghdad.
Iran's conditions include, among other demands, the lifting of the US blockade on its ports, the lifting of US sanctions on its oil exports as well as ending hostilities on all regional fronts.
