On October 15, 2026, Yemen's Houthi rebels launched an attack on the presidential palace complex in Aden, southern Yemen. Five people were killed and 16 injured, according to officials. The palace serves as a headquarters for both Yemen’s internationally recognized government and Saudi officers supporting it. Prime Minister Shaye al-Zindani and other ministers were unharmed during the missile strike. The Houthis claimed they targeted what they described as a "Saudi military operations headquarters" in Aden, part of their policy to target Saudi military buildups anywhere. This attack comes amid intensified fighting between Iran-aligned Houthi rebels and the Saudi-led coalition backing Yemen’s government forces, which has seen sustained missile strikes on Saudi infrastructure since February 2026.
Iran-aligned Houthis and Saudi Arabia
Houthis have opened a second pressure point in the US war with Iran, further squeezing Saudi Arabia’s oil exports already diverted from the Strait of Hormuz.
