Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has denied forcing Cindy Hook out of her position as chief executive of the Brisbane 2032 organising committee. Hook announced on Tuesday that she would leave at the end of her four-year contract, citing feelings of being "suffocated" by government interference and concerns over controversial rowing and canoe events planned for the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton. The Australian reported that there were suspicions the LNP government might replace Hook with an ally and was concerned about the time she spent in the US. However, Crisafulli stated on Wednesday morning that her departure is simply the end of her contract term and not a result of external pressure. He emphasized that it is up to Hook to decide how much time she spends outside Brisbane.
