On October 7, Saudi Arabia reported that three individuals were killed in attacks at two of its international airports: Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The Houthis, who control parts of Yemen and are backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for firing a ballistic missile at the Riyadh airport. At Abha Airport, an Egyptian national and an Algerian resident died; while at the Riyadh airport, a Sudanese national lost their life. Additionally, 36 people were injured in these attacks.
The Saudi-led coalition fighting against the Houthis stated they had intercepted one of the missiles north of Riyadh and destroyed its launch platform. The conflict between the Houthis and Yemen’s internationally recognized government backed by Saudi Arabia, has escalated with recent strikes marking a significant increase in hostilities, impacting both civilian infrastructure and oil facilities within Saudi territory.
