On Tuesday, Philippine prosecutors requested that three out of four impeachment charges against Vice President Sara Duterte be dropped. Despite having gathered substantial evidence since July, they decided to retain only the charge related to unexplained wealth. The original allegations included betrayal of public trust, violation of the constitution, and corruption among others. Lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro argued in court that the existing proof was compelling enough to warrant Vice President Duterte's removal from office. This decision leaves the case focused solely on her alleged accumulation of unexplained wealth.
Prosecutors have been presenting evidence against Duterte since July on charges that she betrayed public trust, amassed unexplained wealth, violated the constitution and committed corruption, bribery and other high crimes.
