The Aporia
Since the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, which resulted in about 1,200 deaths and the capture of 251 hostages, a ceasefire was brokered leading to the release of Palestinian prisoners and hostages. However, over the past year since the start of the ceasefire on October 10, 2024, nearly 1,471 Palestinians have been killed and over 5,189 injured in Israeli attacks, according to Gaza's health ministry and aid groups like Islamic Relief. Israel continues its strikes almost daily, targeting what it claims are Hamas operatives, while also expanding its control to about 70% of the Palestinian territory, despite President Trump’s pledge for peace and reconstruction through his Comprehensive Plan to End Gaza Conflict. The ceasefire has not brought stability or rebuilding, leaving over 2 million Palestinians in dire conditions with restricted aid and devastated infrastructure.

Aid remains restricted, healthcare and education remain devastated, and hundreds of thousands continue to face displacement.
