The Aporia
On Monday morning around 6:15 a.m. in Winter Haven, Florida, a school bus carrying 39 people, including 37 high school students, rolled over onto its roof after being struck by a white Chevy Malibu that crossed the center line and hit the rear tire of the bus. The crash also involved a silver Jeep, which caught fire upon impact with the bus. This multi-vehicle collision resulted in the deaths of two individuals: a tenth-grade girl on the school bus and another person in the Jeep. Multiple others were injured, with five to seven trauma alerts issued, some critically wounded and transported by helicopter to local hospitals. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd described it as "a horrible crash" that occurred along a two-lane road when the Chevy Malibu veered into oncoming traffic, causing the bus to swerve and collide head-on with the Jeep.
