Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have killed at least 7** people and injured many others in recent days, despite a ceasefire agreement reached in June between Israel and Hezbollah. The strikes have been directed at areas controlled by Hezbollah, which has accused Israel of violating the truce.

The conflict escalated after Israel said it had captured the Nabatieh-area Ali al-Taher ridge, which it considers part of its self-declared "security zone" in south Lebanon. Hezbollah has not commented on Israel's declaration, but tensions have been rising between the two sides since a drone attack by Hezbollah on Israeli troops was reported.
The US has brokered talks between Israel and Lebanon, and a framework agreement was reached in June stating that Israel would withdraw from Lebanon as Hezbollah is disarmed. However, progress towards disarmament has stalled, and the situation remains volatile.
Aoun said Sunday’s strikes, which damaged government premises and destroyed an out-of-service hospital, were “a dangerous escalation … reaching Lebanese state institutions” and health facilities.
