The Aporia
Jeffrey Archer, a bestselling novelist and former Conservative politician, died suddenly at age 86 on Monday, peacefully at his home between writing sessions. His publisher, HarperCollins, announced the news, noting that his last book, Adam And Eve, was due for release this month. With over 300 million copies sold worldwide across more than a hundred countries, Archer's novels like Kane and Abel and First Among Equals were immensely popular. Politically, he served as an MP for Louth from 1969 to 1974 and later joined the House of Lords in 1992 after being made a life peer. However, his political career faced a significant setback when he was imprisoned for four years in 2001 for perjury related to a libel case against The Daily Star newspaper. Despite this scandal, Archer remained active and respected in the literary world until his death, leaving behind his wife Dame Mary, two sons, five grandchildren, and an enduring legacy as both a celebrated author and controversial figure.
