On October 4, two people died due to flooding caused by heavy rains and what authorities described as a "mini-hurricane" in the Catalonia region of Spain. One person was killed when a wall collapsed in Tordera near Barcelona, while another death occurred in Montornès del Vallès. Emergency services were searching for a missing individual swept away by a stream north of Barcelona.
The Catalan government issued a red alert warning residents to remain indoors from 8 p.m. on Saturday until 2 p.m. on Sunday, anticipating severe weather and additional heavy rain. Homes in Bellvitge and Cornella near Barcelona experienced flooding, with cars submerged under water. Ducks were even seen swimming in large puddles on motorways within the city.
Aerial footage revealed swollen rivers and flooded residential areas, prompting firefighters to pump out excess water while emergency crews navigated damaged roads. The Besòs river rose rapidly, carrying debris across a railway bridge.
