The Aporia
In Madrigueras, a town in south-central Spain near Albacete, flash floods occurred after nearly a record day’s worth of rain fell within just two and a half hours on October 27. The deluge caused floodwaters to sweep cars through the streets, leaving about 90 people requiring rescue efforts. Tragically, a 102-year-old woman died when her ground-floor home was inundated by water reaching over three feet high. Authorities issued warnings advising residents and visitors to avoid unnecessary travel and not to cross flooded areas due to continuing unstable weather conditions expected to persist into the following week.
