Swiss monitor IQAir reported that Kuala Lumpur was the world’s most polluted major city on an early Wednesday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 166, followed by Singapore at 155. These readings place both cities in the unhealthy category according to AQI standards. The haze enveloping these cities for over a month is due to smoke drifting from fires on Borneo and Sumatra islands. Readings above 150 are considered unhealthy, while levels surpassing 300 would be deemed hazardous.
