On Monday, Trooper Hayden Phillips of Kentucky State Police was fatally shot while patrolling northbound Interstate 65 in Warren County, Kentucky. Phillips, a three-year veteran assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green, left behind his wife and three young sons. The suspect, identified as Emonnie Dion Branch, a 51-year-old from Tennessee with multiple criminal convictions including assault, fraud, and illegal gun possession, was arrested in Louisville on Monday night after a manhunt. Branch had been wanted for a parole violation at the time of the incident. He remains held without bail on charges related to Phillips' murder. Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. vowed that justice would be sought for Trooper Phillips.
