Kenya's Agnes Ngetich broke the women-only half-marathon world record on Sunday at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, finishing with a time of 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 15 seconds. This was a second faster than the previous record set by fellow Kenyan Peres Jepchirchir in Poland in 2020. Ngetich led from the start and won by 50 seconds over her compatriot Veronica Loleo. The overall women's half-marathon world record is held by Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey, who set a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 52 seconds in Spain in 2021 during the mixed-gender Valencia Half Marathon.
