On September 19, 500 far-right protesters clashed with Dutch police during an anti-immigration rally in The Hague. The protest, organized by the group “We Are The People,” was banned by local authorities due to anticipated violence. Protesters threw fireworks and other projectiles at police, who responded with baton charges, water cannons, dogs, and arrests. 24 people were arrested for offenses including illegal weapons possession and non-compliance. Justice Minister David van Weel condemned the antisemitic slogans and Nazi salutes used by protesters and called for “firm action” against them. Prime Minister Rob Jetten also criticized the demonstrators for seeking confrontation with police, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic laws.
