Nirmeen Noufl, 55, was sentenced on Friday for the manslaughter of her abusive husband, Mamdouh Noufl, who went missing in July 2023 and was found dead after she dismembered his body with a circular saw. The killing occurred at their home in Greenacre when Mamdouh physically attacked Nirmeen while choking and assaulting her; she stabbed him in self-defense, cutting up his remains and disposing of them in garbage bins across Bexley and Chullora.
Justice Peter Hamill sentenced Noufl to six years and nine months in prison with a non-parole period of three years. She has been in custody since October 2024 when she was originally charged with murder, but prosecutors later accepted an admission to manslaughter due to the severe domestic violence she endured. The sentence means she will be eligible for parole in October 2027.
The judge acknowledged that while Nirmeen suffered extreme abuse throughout their marriage, the dismemberment and disposal of Mamdouh's body were critical factors in determining her culpability. His nephew outside court expressed anger at the verdict, calling for a longer sentence.

Noufl pleaded guilty after prosecutors agreed to a plea deal which saw them drop the charge of murder on the basis Mamdouh had been abusive towards his wife and was physically attacking her when she stabbed him with a sharp tool.
Justice Hamill sentenced Noufl to six years and nine months in prison with a non-parole period of three years. The sentence was backdated to Noufl’s arrest in October 2024, meaning she will be eligible for parole in October 2027.
