The Aporia
On August 31, a newborn boy was discovered dead in a rubbish bin outside an apartment complex on Harrow Road in Auburn, Sydney. Police estimated the infant had only been alive for about 36 hours before being found. Detectives identified a 24-year-old woman as potentially being the baby's mother after reviewing extensive CCTV footage and conducting a public appeal for information.
The 24-year-old was initially taken to hospital by police on Tuesday, where she underwent an assessment. After her release, she was arrested at Auburn Police Station. She faces charges of concealing birth by disposing of the body and is set to appear in court later this year under conditional bail.
