Hong Kong’s Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu announced that the first building in the 1,000-hectare (2,472-acre) university town project within the Northern Metropolis will be completed by the end of this year. The flagship tower is named Loop Academy One. Lee also revealed the official names for three university towns: San Tin University Town, Hung Shui Kiu University Town, and Ta Kwu Ling University Town. These developments, proposed in 2024, aim to enhance synergy between industries, academia, and research to foster integrated growth in education, technology, and talent development. Authorities plan to attract renowned institutions and first-class scientific research institutes to the area over the next five years.
