As of November 5, 2026, Philippine police are investigating Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan Markle, over allegations of possessing child abuse images. The investigation began after Thomas Markle Jr., Meghan's brother, reported finding hundreds to thousands of illegal images at their father’s home in Cebu, Philippines. Philippine authorities seized three memory cards and a mobile phone from Thomas Markle Jr., which contained child sexual abuse material. Additionally, Interior Secretary Juanito Remulla stated that witnesses have alleged underage girls were brought to the younger Markle's home, widening the scope of the investigation to include Thomas Markle Jr as a "person of interest." The police discovered more than 7,000 photos and one video featuring under-age males and females from various ethnic backgrounds. Meghan Markle has expressed being "deeply distressed" over these allegations, while her father vehemently denies the accusations, calling them "sick lies."
