Canva, an Australian design software giant founded in Sydney, has announced major job cuts impacting 1,271 employees, representing about 22% of its global workforce. Co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins informed staff on November 3 that the restructuring is necessary due to slowing growth for the first time in a decade and changing technology trends. Affected workers will either lose their roles or be asked to relocate to centralized hubs like Sydney. Despite the layoffs, Canva has offered generous severance packages including at least six months' pay and a year of healthcare coverage.
