NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman hit out at those spreading conspiracy theories online after a private jet plummeted to the ground in Florida, killing all nine people onboard.

Isaacman, an experienced pilot with more than 8,000 flight hours, posted on X Monday that he 'felt compelled' to speak out after seeing several posts blaming the Learjet 60 crash on a missile strike and DEI as well as posts criticizing the 20-year-old co-pilot's final radio calls.

'That last part is what I find most troubling,' he wrote, defending Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras' actions before the plane fell at more than 20,000 feet per minute.

'She was the second-in-command (SIC) and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with [air traffic control] right to the end in a terrifying situation.

'She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die,' he noted.

Isaacman then pushed back against questions about Filgueiras' age and qualifications, noting that charter companies regularly pair less experienced commercial pilots with senior captains and reiterating that Filgueiras held the required Federal Aviation Administration qualifications.

Filgueiras → push → qualifications
He also addressed the harrowing viral dashcam footage of the crash and cockpit audio circulating online, saying he understands the public interest in the crash after seeing the footage and listening to the audio.
'But you do not know the aircraft's maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit,' the NASA boss said.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman spoke out against conspiracy theories emerging online after a Learjet 60 plummeted to the ground in Florida
He defended Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, who was co-piloting the Learjet 60 on Sunday when it crashed near West Palm Beach
It is likely federal investigators will now look at Sunday's weather pattern as they try to determine what caused the Learjet to fall from the sky, Isaacman said, 'but beyond that, it is speculation.

'Let people investigate, learn and share the facts,' he then pleaded with the public.

'Be respectful of those who perished and the families who carry their memories.'
Tech tycoon Adam Robinson, 45, and his wife Helen Sharp, 40, their nanny, two friends, and their two children were onboard the Bahamas-bound jet when it crashed, leaving a massive crater in the middle of a road in Greenacres, Florida, the Daily Mail has revealed.
The twin-engine business jet had begun its journey at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas at 10.37am ET Sunday morning and was heading east at 35,000 feet when Filgueiras could be heard warning air traffic control that the aircraft was coming down.
'Descending 20,000ft per minute... we're going to crash into the ground,' the co-pilot said, as her pilot, Jeff Gregory, 55, could be heard reciting the Lord's Prayer in the background.

Audio from the cockpit captured the young co-pilot attempting to describe the crisis in the Learjet 60 aircraft to air traffic control in the moments before it went down.

She could be heard saying the aircraft had banked 60 degrees, meaning it was flying sideways, and she was noting the altitude changes.

The Daily Mail has chosen not to publish the final seconds of audio, which are extremely distressing.

Adam Robinson, 45, and his wife Helen Sharp, 40, were aboard the jet alongside their toddlers Emma, four, and Charlie, two, during the crash
Filgueiras had also been messaging her fellow pilot boyfriend about facing heavy weather in the minutes before the plane crashed.

Her family told the New York Post that before the crash, Filgueiras texted her boyfriend Justin: 'I've got turbulence, I've got ice.'

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board now say they believe severe weather played a 'significant factor' in the disaster and that part of the jet appeared to have broken off before the crash.

Officials said the pilots requested to gain 2,000 feet of elevation when they encountered a thunderstorm, moments before the aircraft spiraled to the ground.

The impact left debris scattered across a significant distance and a massive crater in the road, but authorities said nobody on the ground was injured or killed in the crash.

Some aviation experts now believe the plane may have fallen foul of 'coffin corner' while trying to climb above two storm systems, known as cells.
uncertain
plane → hear → cells
Coffin corner is a phenomenon whereby the jet's minimum safe speed and maximum safe speed converge into a very narrow range at high altitude, making it extremely difficult to fly safely.

If the plane goes too slow or fast it will stall and quickly become uncontrollable.
