On November 1, 2026, British Bengalis celebrated the fifth annual Durga Puja on the River Thames in London, featuring traditional dhak beats and musical performances as a decorated idol of Goddess Durga sailed past landmarks like Big Ben and the Tower of London. The event was organized by Heritage Bengal Global (HBG), a not-for-profit organization for British Bengali diaspora members. Kedar Prasad Gupta, the tourism minister of Bihar, attended the celebration, inviting UK-based Indians and tourists to visit Bihar to see recent development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The idol was created by students from Techno India University in Kolkata and set afloat on the Thames for participants to sail alongside.
