Chelsea M. Villano, 33, of Eatontown, New Jersey, now faces charges after authorities determined she fabricated the story that her boyfriend had burned her during a camping trip in the Pine Barrens on October 15. Initially hospitalized and treated for burns and smoke inhalation at Temple University Burn Center, Villano claimed her injuries were caused by Justin D. Martin, 36. However, three days later, Assistant Ocean County prosecutor Mara Brater informed a Superior Court judge that recorded statements from Villano indicated Martin was not involved in the alleged assault. The prosecutor stated that if the burns had been intentionally inflicted, they would have been more severe. As a result, Villano now faces two counts of falsely incriminating another person.
