On Saturday evening, 100 people were arrested in Barcelona after participating in a riot where they looted shops and set fires around the city's central Plaza de Catalunyana. The incident involved hooded demonstrators who had gathered for an anti-establishment rally called via social media posts to protest against the system under the slogan "Institut Indignats," translated from French student protests. Núria Parlon, Catalonia’s interior minister, reported that around 25% of those arrested were minors and over 30 fires were set, with at least 14 stores vandalized or looted in tourist areas. The Barcelona mayor, Jaume Collboni, stated that such acts would face legal consequences, including guardians being held responsible for any minor offenders involved.
