The Aporia
On September 11, 2001, first responders rushed to Ground Zero in New York City after the terrorist attacks. Years later, many of these individuals have been diagnosed with cancers and other illnesses linked to their exposure to dust, smoke, and chemicals at the site. Sadly, some of those affected did not survive until the 25th anniversary of the attacks. Reuters reported on this ongoing health crisis affecting first responders who were exposed to dangerous substances during rescue and recovery efforts following 9/11.
