The White House has withdrawn the nomination of former Oklahoma state trooper Lance Schroyer to lead United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), without giving a reason for the decision.
What happened
The outlets' own sentences, most widely reported first. Hover one for who reported it.
Schroyer, who spent 29 years with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and also served in the US Marines, was serving as a senior adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin when Trump nominated him in June.
ICE has not had a Senate-confirmed director since 2017 and has instead been led by acting chiefs.
David Venturella stepped back into the agency to serve as acting director earlier this year following the official departure of Todd Lyons, who recently resigned from his leadership position.
His nomination had stalled in the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
