Oct 26 - Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a localised ceasefire around the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in southern Ukraine, an arrangement that will enable aid deliveries and allow evacuations from a frontline town suffering acute shortages of food and medicine.
Oleshky, in the Kherson region, was seized by Russian forces during the first days of Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
The remaining residents have been desperately short of food and other essential supplies.
Russia's defence ministry said on Telegram it had stopped firing toward the Ukrainian city of Kherson - across the river from Oleshky - at 04:00 Moscow time (01:00 GMT) in preparation for the humanitarian operation.
