Greene-Placentia told her campaign staff and husband about the assault days after it happened and reported it to the Maricopa county sheriff’s office two weeks later, according to the Phoenix New Times.
Greene-Placentia said she vaginally bled for three days after the rape, may have suffered a concussion, and was covered with bruises from the sexual assault.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office confirmed to ABC News that a report was filed on Aug. 31 and that there is an ongoing investigation, but said the office could not comment further on the investigation.
Greene-Placentia initially told investigators that one of her attackers used a derogatory remark she interpreted as "Democratic b---h," according to the Phoenix New Times, but told The New York Times on Wednesday that she could not be sure what she had heard.
