Three Mexican men have been sentenced to more than 158 years in prison each for the murder of two Australian brothers and their American friend during a surf trip on Mexico’s Baja California coast in 2024.
What happened
The outlets' own sentences, most widely reported first. Hover one for who reported it.
A court in Ensenada announced the sentence on Friday (Mexico time), one week after the three men - Jesús Gerardo (also known as “El Kekas”), Irineo Francisco and Ángel Jesús – were found guilty.
The Robinson brothers and Rhoad disappeared in late April 2024 while they were camping in a remote surfing spot in beachside Baja California.
Their bodies were found in May 2024, and at least four people were arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime.
